Janet Metzger Narrates a New York Times Best Seller! - July 20, 2011

Currently at #7 on the New York Times hardcover best seller list, the audio version of Silver Girl by Erin Hilderbrand was co-narrated by me and Marianne Fraulo. A description of the recording explains, "Janet Metzger And Marianne Fraulo shine in this classic story of friendship. Metzger, who reads the part of Meredith, captures a woman who seems on the brink of crisis while her long time best friend, Connie, read by Fraulo, tries to keep both of their heads above water."

Career Change Tells a Story - January 25, 2011

I love storytelling, whether  through singing or acting. This past year I discovered a new passion -   narrating  audiobooks! The  most recent one is by an Atlanta author, Patti Callahan Henry, called Losing the Moon. I began my new career over a year ago reading the romance novel, Amazing Gracie. I was delighted when the author, Sherryl Woods, chose me to read a series of hers set in the fictional town of Serenity, SC, about a group of women called the "sweet magnolias." You can listen to samples of current titles by clicking janet metzger audiobooks

In NY Times - Again! - January 14, 2010

When Miep Gies died this week at the age of 100, the world was reminded again of her bravery in taking care of the Frank family in the "secret annex," and of her role in saving Anne Frank's diary. As part of their tribute to this remarkable woman, the New York Times republished their photos from the puppet play I was in at the Center For Puppetry Arts. If you'd like to see those artful pictures, click "In Good Hands" under multimedia.

Next, a reminder about my next production at the Center. come see me in Tales of Edgar Allan Poe, a puppet show for adults, at the world-famous Center for Puppetry Arts. Bobby Box directs a top-notch team of performers through many of your favorite Poe tales and poems including The Raven, Telltale Heart and The Black Cat. See the calendar section for more details.

Janet Voices Winning Film - October 14, 2009

And now, the 2009 Freddie Awards of International Health and Medical Media! And in the category of Oncology, Zometa! Titled Zoledronic Acid-Antitumor Mode of Action, it is an animated film with narration by Janet Metzger, written and produced by Shaw Science Partners.

For the medical geeks among you, the film allows viewers to see the process of bone remodeling in an animated flight through the bone matrix. They explore the pathology of bone metastases and see its influence on the bone matrix. The effects of zoledronic acid on osteoclasts are explored as well as the effects on growth and proliferation. Phew! that was a mouthful, but nothing compared with what I had to say in the narration!

I have been narrating films for Shaw Science Partners for many years. Congratulations to Michael Shaw and his team for this award recognizing excellence in this field.

Pandora Radio plays Janet's CD's - November 5, 2008

Some months ago I submitted my music to a new online radio site called Pandora. I checked back later to see if I was "in the mix" but I couldn't find me. Then, I forgot about it. Imagine my delight and surprise today when I discovered my music there for anyone to listen to - even if they don't know me.
Here's how it works. First of all, signing up is free. Then you create your own radio station by either choosing a style of music, genre or artist. Pandora's internal workings present you with additional material based on characteristics of the music you selected. As you accept or reject songs, your custom station becomes more refined.
To get you started, go to Pandora Radio (http://pandora.com/)  and search for Janet Metzger where you will hear not only my songs, but tracks from albums by Ann Hampton Callaway, Holly Cole Trio, Rosemary Clooney, Diana Krall and many others. It is a great chance to hear singers new to your ear in a style you love. Then branch out - create your own stations! And Happy listening!

Hot Shoe Records Producer Takes Janet For a Ride - September 22, 2008

On Friday, Tony Wasilewski, owner/producer of jazz label Hot Shoe Records, gave Janet the thrill of a lifetime when he took her for a ride on the track at Road Atlanta. One of the premiere road racing courses in the world, Road Atlanta is 2.51 miles of hills, hairpin turns and fast straightaways. In addition to recording some of Atlanta's best jazz artists, Tony is an avid racing fan who serves as an instructor with BMW Car Club of America's Atlanta chapter. During one of the "free play" periods on Friday, Tony strapped Janet into his Mustang and took her out on the course for three laps, topping out at 140 miles an hour. (see photo gallery) Cross that off the bucket list!

The Jazz Gardeners are Bob Shaw, guitar, LA Tuten, bass and vocalist Janet Metzger. Janet sings at Sarasota Jazz Festival - May 16, 2006

In early April, Bob Shaw and I performed for the Sarasota Jazz Festival, sponsored by the Sarasota Jazz Club. The Sarasota Jazz Club is the largest club in the country, with over 800 members. This annual festival grows every year and draws top performers from around the country. Major acts this year included Marian McPartland, Ramsey Lewis, Chick Corea, Dick Hyman, Bucky Pizzarelli, and many other notables. The event we played is called Jazz Caravan by Trolley. On Wednesday night participants parked at the Van Wezel Auditorium where they boarded trolleys that took them to 6 different jazz venues in the downtown Sarasota area. We were one of 6 groups featured on this caravan. Wes Bearden, the producer of the Caravan, secured two great musicians to join us on the stage at The Silver Cricket: tenor saxophonist Jim Wellen (New Jersey and Sarasota) and bassist Ernie Williford (Chicago and Sarasota). We had no rehearsal, and didn't meet until we all showed up at the gig. Wes sure knows his musicians - we were a perfect match! Gordon Garrett, the president of the Jazz Club, invited us to come back and perform at one of their concerts during the coming year.
I was invited last year to be part of the club's jazz festival after Wes heard Bob and me at the Sarasota Yacht Club. While in Sarasota, Bob and I returned to the Sarasota Yacht Club where we presented a cabaret/jazz program for the members. See the photo gallery for pictures from both events.
